Table For One!

Ladies, what’s better than your kids all being fed and in bed by seven? Or your husband agreeing to do the dishes and the laundry for an entire week? I’ll give you a hint. It’s like a treasure hunt. Except instead of treasure, it’s time for yourself, and the only map you have is a reservation at a restaurant.

You know you’re in need of some solo time when you find yourself eating your kids’ leftover mac and cheese while standing at the kitchen counter. Or when your last date night was so long ago, you can’t even remember the last time you ordered something other than chicken nuggets.

But let me tell you, it’s worth it. That moment when the waiter hands you a menu and says “Table for one?” It’s like music to your ears. You can order whatever you want, eat as fast or as slow as you want, and most importantly, you don’t have to share your dessert.

But, it’s not just about dining alone. It’s about taking time for yourself in general. Whether it’s a relaxing bath, a yoga class, or just sitting down with a good book, it’s important to make time for yourself. You absolutely owe it to yourself to treat yourself to some self care because if you’re not good to yourself, how are you going to be good for anyone else.

And believe me when I say, “It’s not always easy.” But, here are a few tips that might help:

  1. Schedule it in – Just like you schedule in meetings and appointments, schedule in some time for yourself. And make sure to stick to it, because it’s just as important.
  2. Get creative – You don’t have to spend a lot of money to take time for yourself. Get creative and find ways to relax that don’t break the bank.
  3. Learn to say no – As a mom boss, it’s easy to say yes to everything. But sometimes, you have to learn to say no in order to make time for yourself.

So, to all the mom bosses out there, don’t be afraid to take time for yourself. It’s not a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of self-care. And remember, a little bit of alone time can go a long way in keeping you sane and refreshed to tackle the chaos of being a mom boss.
